Re: [MW:24507] Procedure Qualifications as per API 1104

Hi Dhanush,

As per API 1104, "A major change in joint design (e.g. from V groove to U groove) constitutes an essential variable"
You can use the same PQR (X65 to X65) with 75deg groove angle butt joint. But you must show the joint details in your wps (see below).

Experts, correct me if I am wrong.

regards,
LALU

Hi all welding experts

I have to qualify some procedures as per API 1104 and I have least knowledge about this specification.....

First I will detail my Product

1).I have Pipe( API 5L X65 MS) to be welded with a flange(ASTM A 694F65) 75deg groove angle butt joint( V groove 75 deg included angle)

2) SamePipe will be welded with a nozzle
(ASTM a694 F65) set on joint groove fillet weld.

As per API 1104 Clause 5.4.2.2 (c) for question no. 1, whether I have to make two pqr of F65 to F65 and X65 to X65 combinations with V groove 75 deg included angle??
 and
as per API 1104 Clause 5.4.2.3 for question no 2 both above PQR's will suffice the requirement of nozzle to pipe welding...??

Regards

Dhanush
