[MW:36173] Materials & Welding

Dear Experts, If a PQR is qualified using ER70S-2 with impact testing, can we use the same PQR to prepare a WPS using ER70S-6, since both filler metals fall under the same F-Number and A-Number? Would this be acceptable under ASME Section IX, or would a new PQR be required? Your expert opinions and code references would be appreciated. -- https://materials-welding.blogspot.com/ https://www.linkedin.com/groups/122787 --- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Materials & Welding" group. Re: [MW:36184] Undercut for welder performance qualification

Just to add, after proper training and during Welder Qualification Test if you  don't control your welder to weld without UNDERCUT then how are you going to control while welding production joints. Some smart welders use Filing but it depends on the Client. Re: [MW:36185] Re: PWHT REQUITEMENT AS PER ASME Section VIII Div.1 UCS-56

Respected Sir, You may proceed with either of the two options. However, the second option is recommended to minimize the risk of vessel deformation and protect the material properties during PWHT. 1. Proceed with a thickness of 50 mm. However, there is a significant possibility of changes in the material properties and vessel deformation due to the required temperature and holding time associated with the 50 mm thickness. 2. First, proceed with the 22 mm-thick vessel section, then perform local PWHT separately on the 50 mm-thick section to minimize the risk of adverse effects on the vessel material properties and dimensional stability. Re: [MW:36170] Cold Bending Qualification

Hi We manufacture cooling coils according to drawing codes and standards. In cold bending, we check dimensions visually, thickness Reduction, and ovality. In process, we check hardness and perform PWHT if required by clients or codes. We also do  LPT Test on the knuckle area after forming. X ray of Weld Joints before and after PWHT.
