Yeah I accept that ...

Pradeep,

Normally Weld Bevels are made for below reasons

1. Accessibility (of torch & electrodes)
2. Flowability of the Weld Metal
3. Thermal conductivity of Base Materials ( where thickness also is considered when it changes the flow from 2D to 3D)

As per ASME Sec.IX, joint detail is a non-essential variable and if the above criteria are taken care of welding pipe with V bevel will not have any effect provided you produce sound weld joint without any lack of side wall fusion.

Dear Experts,

I have an problem regarding with joint design, normally one end of pipe is came with V groove and fittings came with J groove, the thing is can we weld those joints..?? or we have to make J groove in pipe ?? Normally ASME 31.3 it's mentioned about thickness only. Apart from this, i remember that, Joint Desgin is a Non essential variable right??? So guys, shall i proceed for welding??

Please help me out with this issue..

Thanks and Regards,
