[MW:28711] Fiber elongation

basically code says about pwht but heat treatment cycle is same as pwht and in pwht only weld seam is consider but is stress relieving only material is consider mainly name is different process is same but focus point is same ( weld joint in pwht and base metal in sr ).
for fibre elongation u can go upto 40% for P1 material

Re: [MW:28697] Definition of TKY joint

Hi Arun

Some basic explanation as per my experience.

Like in pipe 6G position weld, you will have flat , vertical and overhead welding positions,

Like same way , for tubular connection joints, you will have connections like T joints, K joint & Y  joints in one situation, based on you profile, angles etc...( Branch connections )

If you look from bottom you will find T shape, side way look like K shape ( when two tubular joints occurs) and from top you will find Y shape. Hence it's called TKY joint.

It is most difficult welding in off shore modules.

Since dihedral angle is less than 30deg and very difficult to pass root run welding.

Only 6GR qualified welders can weld and clear inspection requirements.

Clearing UT and Macro is very difficult unlike other joints.

Pl Refer AWS D1.1 – Section 9. Tubular Structures requirements.

Part C, Clause 9.15 & 9.16 for WPS requirements

Part D, Clause 9.19 & 9.20 for WPQ requirements

Part F, Clause 9.30 for inspection requirements.

Thanks and Regards

Dear Member,

Does ASME Sec.II Part A list the proof loads for SA-193 material. I have seen the code but i couldn't find any values in SA-193 section. Could some one direct me to the page where these values are listed in this code.

Warm Regards

Re: [MW:28689] PQR for lining - SA516 GR 70 TO HASTALLOY C276

Dear dinesh,

Its possible to do PQR  for SA516 Gr.70 plate with Hastalloy C276. I would suggest ENiCrMo14 filler with GTAW process. Probably it would be a Lap fillet welding so take a SA516 Gr.70 plate and hastalloy C276 sheet and make a production mock up PQR and then do Macro as per ASME Sec IX.

It would qualify your purpose.
Cheers.
