ASME B31.1  - for power piping has written and adopted requirements in the body of the Code to allow for the use of either UT or RT for volumetric examinations (refer table 136.4)

For ASME BPV Sec 1, Unless Table PW-11 restricts volumetric examination to one method, either the radiographic or the ultrasonic method may be used.
