Re: [MW:27500] WELDING CONTINUITY FOR WELDER

Hi

Please refer ASME Sec IX-QW-322.1 for your reference

in addition to the above, pl note the following,

1. As u know, WPQ record is valid for 6 months only, in case the welder continues his job more than 6 months, then u need to renew before its expires ( i.e continuity )
meaning u need to extend his validity to another 6 months by providing evidence that latest weld joint is defect free.

2. Its one of the role for welding engineer to maintain the validity of WPQ records for all welders/ welding operators for the jobs he is going to perform welding.

3. All these WPQ records shall be maintained / available at shop floor when required by inspector / client .
On the backside of each WPQ records, you can create a table for validity - from and To dates and signed by Welding Engineer.

In your case,
U dont have welder continuity record,  hence NCR raised.

Dear Experts

Want to have an information as one of the auditor has given a Major NCR on-

"welder continuity for the welder not maintained"

Whereas the welding requirements for the organization are only the 'overlaying with 13% CR (crome) only

and that too the same welding does perform this activity on regular basis'.

Please give the reference code/standard reference if the welder continuity is

required to be maintained under these circumstances.

Thanks in advance.
