Re: [MW:28095] USE OF ELECTRODE

Dear Mr. Shaikh,

If the PQR is qualified with E7018, you can use E7018-1 but need to prepare a new WPS with E7018-1 provided meeting the requirements of all other essential & supplementary essential variables.

Refer attached file of asme code interpretation.

Dear All

I have query about use of Electrode with change og classification

We have WPS for SMAW welding process for P1 material with the E 7018 electrode in that case can we use in production E7018-1 electrode

Please help me out in interpretation

QW 404.12 (e) from a classification that requires toughness testing
to the same classification which has a suffix which indicates
that toughness testing was performed at a lower
temperature or exhibited greater toughness at the required
temperature or both, as compared to the classification
which was used during procedure qualification (i.e., a
change from E7018 to E7018‐1)
