Re: [MW:4932] Re-Certifying Material

The following is reproduced from a standard ASME Manual.

a)            In case material is received to a different Edition / Addenda than that ordered, the QA/QC Engineer shall review the MTR and material markings against the applicable material specification, and if found meeting the requirements, an entry shall be made in the MTR/CMTR "Test Certificate verified as per ASME Sec II, Part…….Edition & Addenda……." and signed & dated.

b)            Materials produced to ASTM specifications may be considered as meeting the applicable ASME material specification, if the Edition of ASTM material specification is within the Editions stated in Sec II, Part A or B (as applicable) in the table of 'Guideline on acceptable ASTM Editions'

c)            If the Edition of ASTM specification is either earlier or later than those permitted by Section II, the MTR and material markings shall be reviewed by the QA/QC Engineer, against the material specification, to which the material produced and to which the material is certified and if found meeting the requirements, an entry shall be made in the MTR "Test Certificate certified as per ASME Sec II, Part…….Edition & Addenda……." and signed & dated.

AISI materials can be certified only as per UG 10 or PG 10.

hi,
this is very simple. When you recertify ASTM material in to ASME,First you check with the ASME Code book shows Acceptable ASTM edition.According to that you check with ASTM material certificate, whether that edition listed in the ASME or not.If listed than it is ok.Finally you have to check this material properties and Stamp "Material Identical with ASME Edition_________Addenda_________ and Signed by QC Engineer or Manager then it shall be Accepted by AI(If you are doing Code Jobs)If not a Code Jobs Shop QC sign is enough.
