[MW:4943] SS410S material -Pickling & passivation

Dear All,

I am working as a static equipment engineer for refinery&petrochemical projects.

As per Owner requirements All SS tray assemblies to be pickled & passivated.

Howeever the tray vendor claims it is not applicable for SS410S as pickling & passivation may lead to white & brown pathches on trays.

Please clarify if pickling & passivation for SS410S (martensitic grade) materials is applicable or not?

Awaiting your prompt response.

Yours

Salman Hussain,Baroda,India.
