[MW:4930] Corroded Beams (AISC)

Dear Members,

Does anyone has any experience of determining the tolerance of thickness reduction of a corroded beam (surface attack) with AISC code??

What happens is we have a W18x50 beam that is corroded all over one side of the web surface, after performing sandblast on the beam surface we found that the roughness is very high and already look like there are a lot of small pits.....

Using weld gauge after sandblasting the beam, we can measure some pits have reduced its thickness by more than 10%, about 1mm

Any response or shares will be appreciated

Tq & Regards
Omar Fazni
