Re: [MW:4902] repair of toe crak

how much does exceed the accumulated length of crack, that the whole length of the weld shall be gouged and cut out?
in which refrence document, it is mentioned(preferably in structural fabrication)?

UT is the best solution. Detection will be done from the flange surface of the T joint.
You may start with longitudinal waves and then recheck with transversal waves

[MW:4892] repair of toe crak

Ref

Dear All
in my project, after plate girder fabrication( with thickness of 35 to 50) in Tjoint that have double bevel joint, longitudinal crack in parent metal( that discontinuted) detected by MT in 6M length.
with grinding of a small part , it finded that the depth of crack is approximately 7mm.
now how can i remove this doubt that may be there are branches of crack in lower depth or close the root of double bevel?( how can i trust to UT to detectability?)
does anyone have procedure or recommendation about removing and repair of them?
regards
