Re: [MW:21960] ASTM A 316L Material PWHTed

The safest solution is to cut & remove the joint (cut length shall be equal to or longer than minimum pipe length as in specification) and replace the pipe...

But if you have to keep it, you should know the operation requirements (fluid, temp, corrosion parameters etc.)...
Usually if it is S-316L (low carbon grades will not degrade drastically if stress relieved) and corrosion is not severe, you can proceed but leave a note for RBI team to keep an eye on it and examine it periodically.

Dear friend ,

Carry out in-situ metallograpy on the joint to understand the occurence of sensitization . Generally
in-situ metallography facilities are remotely available . Instead carry out 6in length weld of same thk
and subject to same parameters of PWHT and examine for sensitization.

>Dear Experts,

In our Shaybah project (Saudi Aramco) 28 mm Thk 316L material weld joint by mistakenly done PWHT

So what is the solution for this, is it acceptable

What is the further action, how we conform theweld material there is no any changes in mechanical &
chemical properties
