Just read the API 571 RP document thoroughly and revise several times. Remember and if possible memorise the temperatures ( with particular reference to Fahrenheit/centigrade) of various damage mechanisms. A good reading of Corrosion by Fontana would help you understand basic corrosion mechanisms. Any book on physical metallurgy would help you understand metallurgy related damage mechanisms.
