We can go with V&J combination and no need to make J grove on pipe… (subjected to included gap shall be convenient to run the electrode)

Dear Experts,
I have an problem regarding with joint design, normally one end of pipe is came with V groove and fittings came with J groove, the thing is can we weld those joints..?? or we have to make J groove in pipe ?? Normally ASME 31.3 it's mentioned about thickness only. Apart from this, i remember that, Joint Desgin is a Non essential variable right??? So guys, shall i proceed for welding??
Please help me out with this issue..
