Other intention is to get a measure of the ductility of the joint at the bend location.

Dear Mr Baskaran,
This test is performed to reveal internal imperfections such as slag inclusion, lack of fusion, incomplete penetration, porosity, etc in a butt weld. A butt weld specimen is fractured along an artificial notch that is intentionally machined on the centre line of the fillet weld specimen to facilitate fracture in the centre of the weld. The fractured specimen cross section is then visually examined for imperfections. -- To post to this group, send email to materials-welding@googlegroups.com To unsubscribe from this group, send email to materials-welding+unsubscribe@googlegroups.com For more options, visit this group's bolg at http://materials-welding.blogspot.com/ The views expressed/exchnaged in this group are members personel views and meant for educational purposes only, Users must take their own decisions w.r.t. applicable code/standard/contract documents.
