Dear Raghuram, My understanding as per QW 306 is, You can qualify 2 or more welders in single test coupon, but not allowed to weld each haf as stated by Limesh. QW306: "Two or more welders or welding operators, each using the same or a different welding process, may be qualified in combination in a single test coupon". However all essential variable for performance qualification will apply individually . No change in 2010 edition in this regard. I don't have latest edition, but you can find recent article in Welding Journal (Aug 2010) discuss about this issue. ----- Original Message ----- Sent: Wednesday, October 27, 2010 6:12 PM Subject: [MW:7868] WQT- Number of Welders Issue Dear All, Design Code – ASME B31.3 Welding Code – ASME BPV SEC IX Can I use multiple welders in a single test coupon for WQT.ie, two welders one half with two process (6 o'clock to 12 o'clock) and other half (6 o'clock to 12 o'clock) another two welder with two process(Suppose all welders are crossing the minimum 6"(150 mm) length)? Is there any clause insisting that one welder has to weld the entire pipe circumference irrespective of diameter? -- To post to this group, send email to materials-welding@googlegroups.com To unsubscribe from this group, send email to materials-welding+unsubscribe@googlegroups.com For more options, visit this group's bolg at http://materials-welding.blogspot.com/ The views expressed/exchnaged in this group are members personel views and meant for educational purposes only, Users must take their own decisions w.r.t. applicable code/standard/contract documents.
