RE: [MW:7877] Group No for S 355 material in AWS D1.1

These are unassigned materials in AWS D1.1 (not sure if it is changed in the latest edition, pl check?)

If these pile are manufactured to API 2B, the max straightness can be computed with the following formula

1/8”  x total length in ft/10 ft, but not to exceed 3/8” in any 40 ft length.

Subject: [MW:7875] group no

Hi All Friends,

I want to make proposed WPS as per AWS D 1.1 - 2006 for material BS EN
10025 - 1993grade S 355 JO (for Pile splice fabrication dia 900mm and
1200mm and thickness 22mm and structural fabrication material grade is S
235 JR.

Also what is the tolerance for straightness of Pile . Pile length will
be 60 meter of 12meter joint.

Please suggest group no for the given materials.

Thank you all.

Dear Sir,

Thanking You,

Honesty is the best Policy

Heat tint (temper) colours on stainless steel surfaces heated in air // Heat tint

Introduction The colour formed when stainless steel is heated, either in a furnace application or in the heat affected zone of welds, is dependent on several factors that are related to the oxidation resistance of the steel. The heat tint or temper colour formed is caused by the progressive thickening of the surface oxide layer and so, as temperature is increased, the colours change.   Oxidation resistance of stainless steels However, there are several factors that affect the degree of colour change and so there is no a single table of colour and temperature that represents all cases. The colours formed can only be used as an indication of the temperature to which the steel has been heated. Factors affecting the heat tint colours formed Steel composition The chromium content is the most important single factor affecting oxidation resistance. The higher the chromium, the more heat resistant the steel and so the development of the heat tint colou...
