every welding process requires a qualified welding procedure. So you should have a welding procedure for both side welding with SAW. The process of buttering also should have a PQR and WPS.
Secondly, what about your inspection test plan (ITP)?. Certainly there will be inspection requirements in ITP.
If both of the above is not available (PQR and ITP), as a remedial measure do a PQR. If qualified do the NDT as per the code requirements. If the PQR not get qualified, the entire welding has to be removed and rewelded.
May be other good suggestions will be available in this group.

First of all, you should qualify the welding process before the start of the project then, you also have to perform the NDT in accordance with the applicable construction code. RT or UTcould do the job depending on the wall thickness.J MbeQA/QC EngineerTEL CMR (00237) 33129846TEL CG (00242) 057388009BP 1155 Pointe NoireYesterday is the pass, tomorrow is the future; and today?
