Hi,maximum interpass temperature is measured at 25 mm away from edge of weld joint. It would be checked by tempil stick. The Maximum preheat temperature is equal to the maximum interpass temperature, but the minimum interpass temperature usualy is equal to the minimum preheat temperature and in some case it can be lower.

does this mean that the minimum interpass temperature is lower than the
preheat temperature? If you are taking the interpass temperature at the
weld metal, it is safe to say that the temperature away from the weld
(50-75mm) would be lower.
