[MW:18222] [18149] WQT According to AWS D1.8

This term is used in US standards for certain welded joints in seismic (earthquake) applications. Under the AWS D1.8 Structural Welding Code – Seismic Supplement, the welder who welds the bottom flange of a beam to a column flange, through a weld access hole, is to take a specific weld test using a mock-up of the joint to ensure he/she has the proper techniques to weld the CJP groove (butt) weld through the weld access hole. The AISC Seismic Provisions (AISC 341-10) and AISC 358 seismic connections standard provide information as to what welds are deemed “demand critical”.

Subject: [MW:18149] WQT According to AWS D1.8

Dear Experts,

Can any one tell me more about the above subject? Also is any one have it softcopy?

Our client is requiring welders to be qualified for some "Demand Critical Weld".

If any one performed such WQT...please send me copy of this qualification.

Thanks,

Regards,
Tarek Yehia
