[MW:18211] RE: 18208] AWS D1.1 Welder Qualification Base Metal range

Dear Ehran,

If base material is covered in AWS D1.1 this is not an essential variable for Welder Qualification.

This means a test weld executed on a material covered by any of the materials groups covers all other material groups (I, II and III).

In case of unassigned material companies engineer can check mechanical properties and if material can be considered to be similar to a listed material (for example S355 material is almost similar to EH 36 which is covered) he may classify the material in to the same group as the listed material in that case it will cover also all materials listed. If material is not similar to one of the listed materials the qualification will only covers the unassigned material in case.

Onderwerp: [MW:18208] AWS D1.1 Welder Qualification Base Metal range

Dear All,

I couldn't find any base metal range for welder qualification.

Do you think same and what is the reason for this?

If so what shall we write to Base Metal - Qualification Range row on the certificate?

Thanks in advance

Regards,

Erhan Turgut
