During our material receiving inspection here in project site laydown yard,we noticed small quantity of water inside the newly arrived lot of imported(Bonney Forge,Italy ) gate valves and piston check valves(1",3/4",A105N/F316 NACE) .These valves when tilted or put in inverted position, we could see drops of water coming out .We also saw some discoloration in the disc and in other internal parts of these valves when checked from the outside ,which seems like rust.
Some inspectors here are having the opinion that this water content inside the valves is due to the improper drying after the hydro tests at the vendors shop and these valves shall be rejected due to the rusting took place in the valve internals.But some are having the opinion that these discoloration of the internal of these valves are not serious and cannot result in any damage to the valves once put in the service lines.Kindly see the photograph attached.
