Just simply use the magnet to check weld root and cap whether magnetic or non-magnetic which will differentiate CS and SS.

Dear all,
Could you please help us.
In our project, austenitic stainless steels welds, we have a doubt for some welds that may be welder used GTAW carbone steel filler metal in root pass.
We propose to use PMI inspection but we're not sure about result fiability (root CS + Cap/Filling SS).
