ALL ASME code didn't specify such requirement....Weaving should be limited to three times the dia of the electrode..besides the Heat input,the resulting residual stress will be less.

as per section 9, there is no restriction, but in construction code
like section 8,UCS in repair welding it weaving width is restricted
4Xcore dia of smaw electrode. it is good engineering practice to
restric weaving width to reduce heat input, and welder fatigue
