Re: [MW:14048] Welding of Alloy520 # DIN 2714

Hi Raghuram

Thanks for the prompt reply.
I had already referred to this special metals link before.
However what i m looking for is Preheat temp, Interpass temp, PWHT cycle and welding procedure which is not mentioned !

Hello Friends

I need to weld an overlay of Alloy 520 on a DIN 2714 forging.
The forging DIN2714 dimensions are: 210mm (L) X 100mm(W) X 50mm Thick.

The overlay thickness of Alloy 520 required is 12mm including machining allowance.

Alloy 520 is a precipitation hardenable nickel base superalloy with an exceptional combination of high temperature mechanical properties and corrosion resistance.

The welding process is MIG and there is no applicable code.

As very limited information is available on welding of Alloy 520, I would like to know the Preheat temp, Interpass temp, Post weld heat treatment cycle and special welding precautions to be taken for welding of Alloy 520.

Anyone having experience with this alloy please share with me.

Regards

Prem Nautiyal
