RE: [MW:14107] Re: Regarding Electrode Weaving

Also in addition to the Maulik’s reply, please take a note that more is the weaving width in that particular area which implies more heat input for that area due to low travel speed, lesser weld metal deposit (that depends on your travel speed) and slower is the cooling rate  which results in the grain coarsening in that area. When impact is taken from that part of the weld, there are more chances to getting it to a failure.

Hence we restrict it.

Thanking you,

Rgds,

Prashant

As your weaving width increases there will be maximum chances of slag entrapment at both sides (left & right) because of prior solidification of weld before welding of respective edges. Your weld pool should be in fused state during weaving to avoid slag entrapment.

Hi,

As per Code it is a Non essential variable and Code doesn't specify the weave bead width limits. But you have to specify on the WPS (Stringe/Weave bead). Its a good engineering practice to limit the weave bead width to control the heat input.

Thanks & Regards,

Subject: Regarding Electrode Weaving

Respected Experts,

We generally mention in WPS/PQR weaving of Electrode should be three times the Electrode dia...I have query is Code restrict for this ,anywhere written in code aur it is on general experience...

Thanks & Regards
