The best approach to this is to make issue that the thickness differentials is evenly distributed all over the circumference on both the ID and OD. You can do this by checking fit-up alignment properly using the required alignment measuring tools.

Subject: [MW:14088] Max allowable offset
Dear experts, I have a question. For circumferencial joint joining two thicknesses for a pressure vessel e.g. 8 mm and 10.5 mm what is maximum allowable offset ? As per uw 33 it comes out to be 2 mm .my question is it can not be tapered transition as the thk difference is less than 3 mm as per uw 9. Now if we match ID then the offset will be 2.5 mm and we can not taper the joints also. Please suggest.
