Re: [MW:14068] tapering the thickness to match with approx. 4.5/4.4mm

Hi,

Golden Rule:- All codes including ASME Sec viii Div1, ASME B31.3, AS2885.2 pemit below dissimilar thickness welding:-

t1- WN Flange, t2- adjacent Pipe then following must be met: t1 ≤ 1.5*t2

In your case 1.5*t2 comes 6.75mm which is lesser than 7mm so welding is not permissible, below are 2 options you can go with:-

*Opt for a higher thickness pipe
*Put a transition Piece in between t1 and t2.
