Dear Riaz

Ur understanding is absolutely correct as per QW 451.1 of sec IX. However, WPS for SMAW will be with Backing.

But for SMAW single process you have to give Metal baking as the GTAW weld Metal act as metal baking.

Dear Sir,,

I have one PQR with 3 mm GTAW weld deposit and 6.5 mm SMAW deposit. Base metal thickness is 9.5 mm and impact is not required.

Please correct me if any of the following is NOT correct as per Sec IX

1) Combined Process (GTAW + SMAW) up to a thickness of 1.5 to 19 MM (2T)

2( Single process wps of SMAW with weld metal thicjness 13 MM and qualified base metal thickness is 1.5 mm to 13 mm

3)  Single process WPS of GTAW  with weld metal thickness of 6 MM and Qualified base metal thickness is 1.5 to  6 mm

Please help!!
