Re: [MW:23327] Environment condition during welding

Three things depend on Relative Humidity and temperature and the same Table applies for all.

1. Electrode / Flux storage room temperature. - depends on the same Table.
2. Electrode / Flux Temperature - Normally held at high temperature in the quivers and the same table applicable.
3. Base Material temperature  - depends on the same table and controlled by the minimum preheat temperature. Normally warming using a Preheat torch is a good engineering practice for Caron and LAS as it drives away the moisture and disbands the Grease / Oil which can be further brushed of.

Hi jayakumar.                                 Thank you for your reply I am asking due to any whether changes the relative humidity of the environmental is more than 60%  during welding..one month low humidity and another month high humidity ....not for storage and baking .by prabha

Hi Prabha,

Please refer to any Welding consumable manufacturer's Handbook or Data sheet.

Typical example from ESAB shown below.

Inline image

Based on the Relative Humidity, welding electrode and Flux storage room temperature shall be no colder than 5degC below the air temperature.  For example if the Relative Humidity is 50% measured, then the electrode storage room temperature  shall be no colder than 10 degC below the Air temperature.

Hi all.   Can any one share the environmental condition in welding ..particularly relative humidity... We have to maintain the relative humidity for flux and electrode..during welding anything?  By prabha
