Dear Riaz,
Advantage is to reduce the no of WPS. A single PQR (Combined process) can be used to prepare three different WPS or even more within the range qualified for weld deposit and base metals thickness.
Further, in WPS, we also mentioned the range qualified for individual processes.
This is best of my knowledge. if I am wrong, correct me,
Regards,

Thank You For replyMy humble doubt is, 1 ) weld metal deposition is restricted to be max 6 mm for gtaw, and 13 mm for SMAW, what is the advantage of having 19 mm as Qualified base metal thickness. For separate process there is no advantage of Base metal Qualified as per QW-451 ie 1.5 to 2TAM I RIGHT ???

But for SMAW single process you have to give Metal baking as the GTAW weld Metal act as metal baking. Sent from Yahoo Mail on Android
