QW-301.2, 2nd paragraph,  “The weldor or welding operator who prepares the WPS qualification test coupons meeting the requirements of QW-200 is also qualified within the limits of performance qualifications listed in QW-304 for welders and in QW-305 for welding operators.  He is qualified only within the limits for positions specified in QW-303.”

 

Obviously, in such case, the weldor/welding operator is not working to a qualified WPS.

Any reference that for the WQT of test plate doesn't require a WPS  ?

can we use a preliminary WQT  : ANS : NO
The WPSs shall be identical for all the essential variables, except for the
preheat temperature and PWHT requirements. or has an SWPS
adopted in accordance with Article V,ASME SEC-IX
