Dear Santhosh,

Thanks for the reply,

As Contractor, we have inform the supplier and Sub contractor to follow the standard of color coding for material identification. While shipping or fabrication time if they mix up material like P91,P22, P11 etc it will be a problem for us. I have a book (Pipe Fabricators Textbook, American standard 1999 version. In that only mentioned CS,SS etc not for Alloy like P91,22,11 etc. If any one have these with latest version please share with me.

Thanks n Regards

Dear Arun,

There is no standard color coding from ASME/ASTM. If you go through ASME Sec - II says ( SA-106/SA-106M ) purchaser has to specify the color coding.

Any how refer  BS 5383 Specification for material identification of steel, nickel alloy and titanium alloy tubes by continuous character marking and colour coding of steel tubes, You may get some information.

Check with your client if they are having any specification for the same or propose any colors in your color coding procedure.

Hema Santosh.
