Re: [MW:20331] Acceptable Values for Charpy Impact Test at -(minus) 196 degC for A312 TP304

Dear Anurudh,

As per the material specification A312 impact test is not mandatory for TP 304 grade material upto -250°C. Pl. refer to the first paragraph of this material specification.
Secondly, if your project specification requires impact test to be carried out at -196°C then it is recommended to measure the lateral expansion instead of the impact values.
which is 0.38 mm or higher per this material specification or per B31.3, Pl.refer clause no. 323.3.5 of B 31.3.

Regards,

PARAG PANSARE

Dear All,

I'm using A312 TP304 pipe for design temperature -(minus) 196 degC for BOIL OFF GAS (BOG) service.

we have carried out the charpy impact test at -(minus) 196 degC for the pipe. we are having average value of Joules for pipe specimens.

Please provide/guide me with the Acceptable value for Charpy impact values( Joules) at -(minus) 196 degC along with codes/reference for A312 TP304 Pipe.

Kind Regards,

Choudhary Anurudh
