Re: [MW:19341] Corrosion on Stainless Steel Vessel Weld

Based on the image ,the stain might caused by the corrosive  fluid   used in the vessel and the leakage  near the heat affected zone.you may  find out the nature of fluid by  microbiological test then make a decision.

Dear Friends,

On a recent inspection of a Stainless Steel Vessel, there were some corrosive stains observed on near the weld.
Please refer to the pictures attached.
The stains indicate a leakage/flow behavior of the containment.
However, when observed visually there was no leakage of any liquid.

The vessel was in service since 2008.
Material of construction is Stainless Steel SS 316.

What could be the probable cause of this behavior?
Please share your views.

Eswar Raju.
