Re: [MW:18800] WPS/PQR with impact testing requirement

1. No
2. How many passes are you expecting in 6.4 mm?

Dear All,

I have following two question related to qualification of WPS and PQR  with impact testing.
1. As per ASME IX para 403.6: where T is less than 14 in.(6 mm), the minimum thickness qualified is 12T.
my question is, if i have a material MTC stating thickness 6.4 mm, can i refer as 1/4" in PQR/WPS to get the benefit of 1/2 T qualification range.
2. As per project specification, if heat input range varies considerably in different passes, then additional impact test is required from different passes. If a test piece thickness is 6.4 mm, is it practical to take impact test specimen from different passes.

Your valuable reply will be highly appreciated.

With best regards,
