Re: [MW:18759] AWS D1.1-2010- Table 4.1

Dear Anban,

for pipe welding to base plate; this is fillet weld so we can't refer it to note "b".

Note "b" is limited to CJP and PJP like pipe to pipe welding.

Yes, if qualified WPS/PQRs of 1G/2G/3G/4G position(s) can be used to weld any diameter of fillet weld.

Dear Experts

Table 4.1- WPS/PQR Qulafied x Production Weld Position Qualified Range.

Note "b"- Qualifies for circumferential welds in pipes equal to or greater than 24 in [600 mm] nominal outer diameter

Question - Does "circumferential welds" means only CJP/PJP-girth and seam butt weld joint on inclusive of fillet weld joint,: for example Pipe welding to a base plate?

In my opinion only apply for "only girth and seam butt CJP/PJP weld joint".

My understanding- WPS/PQRs qualified in any of these 1G/2G/3G/4G position(s) can be used to weld any diameter of Circumferential Fillet weld.

Pls advise
