[MW:18708] Valves with Drain plug...clarrification

Dear Experts,

We have procured  Carbon Steel Gate Valves (2" to 30") of API 600  with NACE requirements for our offshore project.

Our line pressure & temperature:

Design pressure of GAS Line : 3.5 barg
Design Temperature : 85 Degrees Celsius
operating Temperature : 44.8 to 48 Degrees

Valve Body Material : ASTM A 216 Gr.WCB + NACE

Drain Plug : A 105 + NACE

All the Valves were having Drain plug with Threaded connection.. ( procured as per Approved Drawings & Data Sheets).

As we are going to use these Valves in GAS Line , during Receipt inspection, client commented that drain plug with threaded connection is not acceptable as there may be chance of leaking from this connection in future.

We are clear from our side since all the Valves were Manufactured, tested & Inspected as per Clients Approved GAD & Data Sheets where in,  this connection was shown.

As client requested , Now we have proposed for Seal Welding of this drain connection.

But as i mentioned Valve body is of Casting material, if we perform any Welding , the same should be Heat treated. As we can not leave in AS-Welded condition.

So is there any other alternate solution of sealing of this Valves with out welding or any other solutions with Seal welding & with out Heat treatment.

Please give your valuable suggestions on this subject.

Regards
Anil Kumar
QA/QC Engineer
