Follow as per mr Vedaraju. What is your wall thickness by the by? when the wall thickness goes high you can perform DWSI as well code permits. To meet your UG value follow mandatory / non mandatory in Art 2, Sec V, ASME.

Dear Friend,
 
1.       Ellipse technique is better for 10  mm thick and less. When thickness of the pipe is more than 10 mm, it requires more source offset to form the ellipse so as to get the both film side & source side welds separated. Hence, it is advisable to use superimposed technique, if thickness is more than 10 mm.
 
2.       When pipe / diameter is one inch and less, it is again requires more source setting time to form the ellipse and get the both welds separated. Hence when the diameter is 1-inch and less, it is better to perform radiography with superimposed technique.
