RE: [MW:18747] Which filler wire is suitable to achieve Impact Prop 20J at -48°C (P1 materials; GTAW)

Hi

you can use metal wire ER70S-3 or you can use ER70S-2 provided that the lower impact test -48

I used ER80S-Ni1 for SA-333 Gr.6 (P1-Group1).  I got  average 50 J (WM) and 72 J (HAZ) @ -40 c.

HI Ali Samdani ,

I have not used ER80S-Ni1 for P No.1 of such Low Tempr , because this filler comes under ASME II C , SFA 5.28 and also for Low alloy steels.

But for one of the PQR for Minus 47 Deg C especially for P No.1 , I have used ER70S-2, it gives Avg 60 J .

Please confirm again whether any preventive measures you have taken for using Low alloy welding consumable to weld P No.1.

For low temperature application, you may use ER80S-Ni1 for GTAW.
