mechanical properties? if it was P460ML1 (TMCP treated steel), your statement would be correct,
For TMCP steel care needs to be taken if PWHT is applied that the soak temperature does not
exceed 600°C; a temperature range of 550°C to 600°C is often specified. The reason for this is
that many of the TMCP steels are accelerated cooled to a temperature of around 620°C; heat
treating at or close to this temperature will result in a substantial reduction in tensile
strength due to over-tempering. The same restriction applies to any hot working activity -
plate must not be hot rolled and the temperature of local heating for correction of distortion
must not be allowed to exceed 600°C.P460NL1 is Normalized high yield steel and generally PWHT
of normalized steel enhances mechanical properties however as a Client, one would ask for
Simulated heat treatment of same material with same heat treatment and the perform some
hardness tests/tensile tests to prove that mechanical properties would not
degrade.RegardsManpreet SinghFrom: "Pieper QSI"

2 vessel repair Dear Sir,Be aware that both P460NL1 and SA612N are fine grain high strength
steels for moderate and low temperature service, so I would not suggest hot working because
this will lower materials mechanical properties. If necessary you need to simulate the heat
treatment and execute mechanical testing in order to ensure the material keeps its
properties.Met vriendelijke groeten / Best RegardsHerman PieperPieper Quality Support &

experts,The vessel is a transportation portable tank built under the ASME section VIII div. 2
guidelines, if the shell is damaged and would need to be sectioned or repaired by welding or
hot work what documentation and approvals would a repair facility be required to hold in order
to make an ASME / NBIC repair that would keep the tank in service as an ASME vessel?I am aware
the shop would need an R stamp to repair a Section VIII Div. 1 tank would it be the same for
Div. 2? The tank vessels are of P460NL1 material and others are of SA612 N.THE FIRST CHOICE IN
