Re: [MW:7240] use of E 7018 Electrode for stuructural welding without proper drying and holding

Dear Asad

This type of electrodes, Basic electrodes, are so sensitive to the presence of humidity .So in case of not proper baking( According to the manufacturer recommendation) , you will face the crack initiation in weld which surely will cause to the failure on any impact or cyclic stresses. It shall be noted that the failure of weld could be taken place after the completion of job even several months later.
So it is not recommended at all to use E7018 electrode with out baking.

Yours truely,
Keyvan

Dear All,

Goodday.

what will be the effect in Mechanical/chemical proerties of deposited weld metal of  E7018 which is used for Structural welding of angle bar( material CS) without drying  (at 260-430deg C) and Holinding(at 120 deg C).

Can E7018 be used without proper drying and holding for stuructural welding( fillet weld only) of angle bar/supports(material CS).

Thanks in advance for your valuable suggestions.

Best  Regards
