Hello,

You can qualify you welder with Single "V" or Double "V".
For single"V"-with or without backing of weld material you can qualify,it qualifies with or without backings Weld materials.
For Double " V" with back chip & weld material definitely requires,it qualifies with or without backings of Weld materials.

Dear All,
 
I want to qualify welders based on AWS D1.1 for ordinary structural steel work.Is it one sided welding(complete penetration) like pipe with out backchipping or partial penetration welding or welding both side after backchipping?I don't know which method I have to follow.
