Hi,
 
What about the mechanical test coupon sizes for tensile and bend tests, AWS is having different requirements for mechanical test coupon size and allowances than ASME Sec-IX.
I think we can not club these two codes together, please correct me if i am wrong.

If you qualified a PQR to AWS D1.1 you most likely can use the data to write a PQR to ASME Section IX.  You will have to review the data taken during the PQR test and mechanical test results to assure that all the requirements of Sc IX are met.  If your data and test results are sufficient then you may write a new PQR in an acceptable Sc IX format.  With the PQR you will write the WPS with limitations based on the ASME PQR and Sc IX permitted ranges. 

 

Think about it, if the data exists and properly qualifies what you will do in practice, what practical reason would there be to perform another PQR test.  You would simply repeat the same test, with the same basic parameters, process, base metals, weld consumables and, theoretically, have the same results.  The reason to perform the PQR in the first place is to verify that a sound weld with appropriate room temperature mechanical properties can be obtained when welded under certain conditions.

 

 As long as the data and results meet the requirements, it can be applied to any Code.  Thus if I perform a weld under EN rules with observation of a Notified Body Inspector, I can write from that data a PQR and WPS to EN 15614, ASME  Sc IX, and/or AWS if I have made the effort to assure that the data and test results satisfied the qualification requirements for all three.  The WPS ranges of qualification will most likely be different but that doesn't affect the quality of the input data.

 

{Note the obvious -  that an AWS prequalified welding procedure may not be warped into a Sc IX welding procedure as there is no PQR}

In my opinion cannot. Your procedure is only for D1.1 application.
When we will apply another code, so we have to follow the code we will refer to.

My query is can I use these procedure to weld pipe work as per ASME IX for the same material?
