[MW:952] RE: 950] RE: 948] Re: why CC2235-9 is not applicable for ASME Sec.III

Acceptance criteria does not change as per flaw location or direction. The acceptance criteria is based on size of flaw as per code case.

In my opinion neither code nor CC distinguishes the diff. between flaw direction longitudinal/transverse (please correct me I am a level zero in UT), hence your interpretation could be correct.

However Fig2 of CC shows something transverse and longitudinal planar flaws (could we interpret like that?)

Dear All,

One more query, this time related to acceptance criteria as per ASME CodeCase 2235-9.

For the flaws oriented transverse to weld centre line axis, what is the acceptance criteria as per above CC.

As per me the above CC is silent on this and hence we need to apply the same acceptance criteria as mentioned in tables 1,2 &3 of above CC. What is your opinion.!!!!

Raghavendra

We are aware that ASME code case 2235-9 is appliabcle for ASME Sec.I,Sec.VIII and Sec.XII. Why not the same is applicable incase of ASME Sec.III. Where as if we see the philosophy of the above CodeCase is mainly drawn from the nuclear code ASME Sec.XI at the same time.

Can any one comment on the above.

Raghavendra
