[MW:925] Re: HARDNESS REQUIREMENT FOR SA333GR6 PIPE

Even 0.4% CE looks on the higher side.
It will be well below the 200BHN, if CE is less than 0.25%.

Hi Shailesh,

This may be special requirement by the Client.
Client may have specify in the piping specification. Also check for any requirement as per NACE MR0175
Also when client specify for hardness, it is always on as welded condition. But get it confirm from client.
Also to control hardness on weld you shall check CE of the material before welding. It shall be less than 0.40% which will offer good weldability.

ALSO THRE IS NO PWHT INVOLVED IN IT.  CLIENT HAS NOT CLARIFIED IF THIS HARDNESS IS AFTER WELDING OR AS RECEIVED MATERIAL. I HAVE REFERED THE ASME SEC. II PART A WHERE SA333 GR.6 DO NOT ASK FOR ANY HARDNESS.
