Subject: [MW:893] pre heat for dissimilar metals

Any body can help me to decide the pre heat temperature for welding of carbonsteel with stainless steel?  If thickness is greater than 32mm,  preheat is mandatory in SEC VIII. But in this case what I can follow. Carbon steel preheat temperature or stainless steel preheat temperature?.

If it damage the property of stainless steel is it mandatory?

Thanks & Regards
Muhammed Ibrahim PK
