[MW:903] UG 20(f) - Clarification

For thickness above 25mm, you need to refer UCS 66 for a combination of material grade and thickness and MDMT, please refer UCS 66(a)

UG20 (f) is referred from UCS 66(a), not vice versa, and UG20 (f) exemption can be taken when all of the condition given are met.

 

In your case 516 Gr70N, refer curve D in fig UCS 66 against MDMT and thickness, for e.g. if your MDMT is not colder than -29 °C, CVN impact may be exempted up to 1.25 inch in thickness

material is a516 GR.70 normalised when i refered the fig ucs 66 the impact test doesn't need if i go to UG 20f it required I have the only one clarification is which we take as final. because ug 20f clearly says the material p1 group thickness exceed 25mm require impact test
