[MW:16008] pgoswami@sympatico.ca

Dear Experts,
I am a member of this form and the questions and answers are very much interesting. Now I have got some questions regarding welding.
We have to fabricate some equipments and pipe lines for a geothermal power plant in Africa. The material of the pipe is A106 gr B and material for the equipments is  P265GH which is equivalent to ASTM 516  gr 60. Following are my questions.
1)  Whether we can use the procedure qualifications  which are  done on the plate to qualify the pipe welding ( both are the same P nos)
2)whether we can use the procedure qualification which is done on the plate  can be used for the performance qualification of welders for pipes?
3)Our client is not allowing us to weld with GMAW on pressure retaining equipments or components  and instituting  not to use FCAW
on pressure vessels and piping other than carbon steel. What is the technical reason for that? Or is it some where in the ASME code?..
Please give me some light on that.
Regards Cyriac Dominic
