Re: [MW:8964] WPQT P.No & F.No. Range

we know that P num & F num are essential variables as per QW 403.18 & QW 404.15,
here if a welder is qualified with  any base metal (p1 to p11, p34, p41 to p 49) then he can weld (p1 to p11, p34, p41 to p 49)according to QW 423.1
& we know that if a welder qualified with an F no ( 34,41 to 46) then  he is qualified to weld with F no(34,41-46) according to qw 433.
so this welder can weld as u said

Dear Limesh,

Absolutely yes for both your questions as per ASME Sec.IX 2010.

But you also need to look into the practical application when applying this wide range.

Dear All,

Welding Code: ASME BPVC SEC IX, 2010 edition

A welder qualified on P No.45 material by using F No. 43 filler wire. I need clarification on following queries based on QW 423.1 and QW 433.

1. Is the welder qualified to weld P.No. 34, 41, 42, 43, 44, 45, 46, 47, 48 and 49 materials?

2. Is the welder qualified to use F.No. 34, 41, 42, 43, 44, 45 and 46 consumables?

Regards,

Limesh
